» The Dreadful Equation

It is possible to ration subsistence, but not prosperity. Americans are slowly, painfully beginning to appreciate the difference between those two levels of existence. We’ve been so prosperous, for so long, that we lost sight of how far our economy would collapse when value was traded for power. The arithmetic of poverty and unemployment is simple, and merciless. Free people multiply. The all-powerful State is only good at division.

» Good News: effective April 22nd, the EPA will fine you $35,000 if you replace 10 windows in your own home ‘incorrectly’

Unelected bureaucrats at the EPA, like the old Soviet Politburo, are dreaming up regulation after regulation, dictate after dictate; they are inventing new rules to steal more and more of your freedom.

When the federal government can tell you how much water can flow through your shower head, how many gallons your toilet tank can hold, how much salt you can put in your soup, what kind of toilet paper you can use, what kind of light bulbs you must buy — when they can do all of those things, there are no limits to their power. They are no longer a federal government but have become instead a national government.

» Lawmakers: Military could quell Chicago violence

Two Illinois lawmakers say violence has become so rampant in Chicago that the National Guard must be called in to help.

The request comes amid a recent surge in violent crime, including a night last week that saw seven people killed and 18 wounded, mostly by gunfire.

Of course, we realize that part about ‘mostly by gunfire’ is simply untrue. After all, Chicago has some of the strictest gun-control laws in the country.

Media, University or Union?
Doesn’t it seem that each and every case of treason or invasion or sedition has a link to one of those three?
» Irony-meter shatters: La Raza, MEChA and other racial separatist groups worry that law enforcement might use racial profiling to enforce laws

Legacy media continues its outstanding work of late, studiously ignoring outbreaks of violence at pro-illegal immigration protests in Arizona, while incessantly marketing the meme that enforcing centuries-old immigration law is ‘racial profiling’.

Racial profiling?

Irony: Consider that the name of the dominant Latino lobbying group is National Council of La Raza (“The Race”).
Irony: Consider that the motto of the dominant Hispanic student organization — MEChA — is Por La Raza todo. Fuera de La Raza nada (“For the Race, everything, outside the Race, nothing”).
Irony: Consider that all of this insanity operates under the aegis and sponsorship of the University of Arizona and the state’s taxpayers.

In this case, it’s invasion. Read the entire linked article for proof of that. The last sentence in the above quote (“University of Arizona“) reveals the internal linkage. Not to mention the lack of coverage by the media.

Hosted on an official University of Arizona website is the official founding document of MEChA, helpfully entitled “El Plan de Aztlan” (PDF).

It’s no coincidence.

» Remembering a Sixties Terrorist
The author, Donna Ron, writes of her ‘way back when’ encounters with a person that forfeited respect as a human; a person who is now the darling of the left, a string puller of the puppet-in-chief and who makes the big bucks giving speeches at UNIVERSITIES.
Note that this article was published in 2006, so it’s not like it was written to disparage a buddy of the president.

» Thanks, Blago, Stern, Daley, Jarrett and company: Illinois public sector pensions will run dry in just 8 years… or less

Isn’t Democrat-controlled government great? Letting the public sector unions and corrupt liberals set policy is tantamount to societal suicide. California, New Jersey and New York are next on the chopping block. Not to mention the entire country, should the Obama-SEIU Democrats continue on their course of fiscal hara-kari.

» It’s the Derivatives Stupid

It seems something called derivatives, rather than Freddie and Fannie, were the cause the financial crisis according to the Democrats and the main stream media. But we the people are supposed to be to stupid to remember the indictment on the real estate market and the over extensions forced on the banks by Dem. Sen. Chris Dodd and Dem. Rep. Barney Frank. So, in a bill which doesn’t address the real estate market, Freddie and/or Fannie, we are now supposed to believe it was the fault of derivatives which caused the Wall Street melt down. But not only are we so supposed to be so stupid that we don’t remember the real estate bubble, but we are not even offered an explanation of a derivative… it is too ‘complex’.

» Freedom was our cradle – Don’t let socialism be our grave

Inimical to the America bequeathed by our ancestors and toxic to the liberty and opportunity which has made the United States the greatest nation to have ever existed totalitarianism is the enemy of humanity and of the rights our Creator endowed. Seeking to control every action, direct every effort and determine every outcome, totalitarianism is the inevitable result of a cradle-to-grave welfare state.

» Dictatorial politicians

This past Sunday a Wisconsin paper ran a story on a new and young mayor in the state. This newbie is an unmistakable conservative, which is the chief reason he won an election in tax-ridden Wisconsin. In the course of the article on the mayor, however, a previous mayor, who had significant interaction with the new mayor, indicated that he did not know what the new mayor stood for.

My puzzlement might have stopped there, except on the following day, Monday, I heard a talk radio host say that he too could not figure out why the previous mayor could not figure out the new mayor. The radio voice said that anybody—to include himself—who had bothered to talk with the new mayor knew in less than twenty minutes of conversation that the man believed in limited government. The radio voice then added that powers of perception greater than his own could surmise the same about the new mayor within less than a quarter hour. However, the prior mayor had had days, weeks, months, in fact over a year of exposure to the new mayor, and nevertheless still drew a blank on him.

Now I asked myself how the previous mayor had missed a very discernable and unmistakable quality about the new man. Answer: to the elder mayor, the new mayor, who ran on conservative principles such as austere fiscal responsibility and reducing taxes, must obviously be leaving something unspoken. He must have some “vision” of sorts for the people. This probably means that to the old mayor, an elected official worthy of being an elected official is presumed to be planning some plethora of programs to benefit the people.

By contrast, though apparently not registering with the prior mayor, the new mayor wants restraint in his government. Ronald Reagan famously said that “Government is not the solution to our problem, government is the problem. From time to time we have been led to believe that society has become too complex to be managed by self-rule, that government by an elite group is superior to government for, by, and of the people.”
