April 29, 2010

We’re going to take a couple of days off, so this will be the last posting until Sunday.

» What Lies Beneath

The economic report released last week by Health and Human Services, which indicated that President Barack Obama’s health care “reform” law would actually increase the cost of health care and impose higher costs on consumers, had been submitted to the office of HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius more than a week before the Congressional votes on the bill, according to career HHS sources, who added that Sebelius’s staff refused to review the document before the vote was taken.

“The reason we were given was that they did not want to influence the vote,” says an HHS source. “Which is actually the point of having a review like this, you would think.”

True enough, I reckon. The dhimmicrats did not want to influence the vote away from their socialist goals. They were prepared to endure the flak from their deception in order to seize the prize of socialization of a huge chunk of America.

The irony of President Barack Obama visiting Beckley, West Virginia, Sunday to read a eulogy at the memorial service for those who died in the Upper Big Branch Mine accident, has not been lost on some White House aides. “If we had our way we’d be mourning the mining industry, not miners,” says a White House aide. “As an environmental issue, we want the majority of these mining related industries just to go away.”

I guess some industries just aren’t worth the trouble of nationalization, so launch the flying monkeys – shut em down. It’s nothing more than a reliable source of affordable energy, in quantities large enough for us and the world, that alone makes it a target of the destructocrats.

One of the reasons the Obama Administration has stepped up its public criticism of Wall Street isn’t just its opposition to the regulatory reform legislation on Capitol Hill … It’s because the firms have largely been pushing back.

“They don’t think we’re hiring enough of their people or people in general while we’re making profits,” says one executive with Bank of America. “And for several months now, they’ve been pushing us to do more to help them on the employment front.”

Dhimmicrats have been indignantly insulted lately by mobster references, and I don’t know why.

» Legislation Promotes Statehood for Puerto Rico

The United States House of Representatives is set to vote on H.R. 2499, the Puerto Rico Democracy Act, as early as this week. This bill would mandate a non-binding expression by the voters of Puerto Rico as to their wishes with regard to retaining their commonwealth status or becoming a state or becoming an independent nation, but in conjunction with other legislation already introduced inside Puerto Rico, the commonwealth status of the island could be eliminated as early as this year.

Both Americans and Puerto Ricans are not informed as to the ramifications of H.R, 2499

Sen. Jose Hernandez-Mayoral of the island’s minority Popular Democratic Party said, “Behind this innocuous bill lies a fully thought out assault on Congress to designate the island the 51st state.” “With the commonwealth option out of the ballot, statehood is finally, albeit crookedly, assured a victory.”

Lemme Summit Furya
Dhimmicrats are cooking up another one of their famous schemes to lock themselves inside the D.C. beltway – permanently. They see two advantages to Puerto Rico becoming the 51st.
1 – All that extra tax revenue; not to be applied to the deficit of course, don’t be stupid. It’s for spending!
2 – All those new voters. See, Puerto Rico being mostly hispanic and all, that translates to what the dhimms see as a boost in their registrations and ultimately add a little more sticky to their grubby grip on power.

» How Could They Do That in Arizona!

First, there is the simplicity of the argument. One either wishes or does not wish existing law to be enforced. If the answer is no, and citizens can pick and chose which laws they would like to obey, in theory why should we have to pay taxes or respect the speed limit? Note that liberal Democrats do not suggest that we overturn immigration law and de jure open the border — only that we continue to do that de facto.

» What Part of Illegal Don’t You Understand?

Arizona was forced into doing the right thing and you know that the last thing the Democrat axis of evil (Obama-Pelosi-Reid) wants any government to do is “the right thing”. The 10th amendment to the US Constitution states that anything not specifically given as power or responsibility to the Federal Government is left to the states. It does not specify what is left for a good reason, and this situation is a perfect example. If and when the feds fall down on the job it is required by the constitution for the state to take over, just don’t expect a Supreme Court ruled by liberals to see that.

» Thomas Sowell: Filtering history for political ends

If the history of slavery ought to teach us anything, it is that human beings cannot be trusted with unbridled power over other human beings– no matter what color or creed any of them are. The history of ancient despotism and modern totalitarianism practically shouts that same message from the blood-stained pages of history.

But that is not the message that is being taught in our schools and colleges, or dramatized on television and in the movies. The message that is pounded home again and again is that white people enslaved black people.

» Barreling on, regardless

Obama has chosen to respond to Syria’s open brinkmanship by rewarding Assad with newfound legitimacy and panache.

In Iraq, Obama’s pledge to withdraw all combat forces from the country by the summer has emboldened the various forces vying for control of the country to set it ablaze once more.

In Afghanistan, Obama’s surge and leave policy has left would-be US allies hedging their bets, at best. And it has caused the US’s NATO partners to question the purpose of their deployment in that country.

… the Obama administration has no effective policy for dealing with Iran’s nuclear weapons program …

Mahmoud Abbas explained that Obama’s own statements have convinced the Palestinians that there is nothing to negotiate about …

Only one middle-east nation has any reason to fear Obama … Israel.

» The 2nd Amendment Is My Conceal-Carry Permit

While the Tea Parties, the 10th Amendment movement, and the fight against Obamacare march on, it’s great to see how Brewer and Arizona’s legislators have taken a firm stand on what many believe to be the most important amendment of all: for it’s the only amendment which our Founders posited as “being necessary to the security of a free state.”

Perhaps other governors will follow Brewer’s lead, so that one day soon more of us will be able to say: “The 2nd Amendment is my conceal carry permit.”

» Judicial Activist

In 2005, serial murderer and rapist Michael Ross found an unlikely sympathizer — federal judge Robert Chatigny, who called Ross’s sexual sadism a mitigating factor in his case. He threatened and berated Ross’s lawyer into further postponing his death sentence against this client’s own wishes. Judge Chatigny sits before the Senate Judiciary Committee today as President Obama’s nominee to the Second Circuit Court of Appeals.

… the “Roadside Strangler,” was convicted in 1984 after confessing to the murder and rape of eight different women
… He was given the only death sentence Connecticut had seen in 23 years, and his attorneys unsuccessfully pursued all of the usual appeals and habeas actions. After nearly twenty years of appeals, Ross made the unusual decision to forego all further post-conviction relief and accept his execution.

Without recusing himself or disclosing his prior involvement with the original appeal of Ross’s conviction [District of Connecticut Judge] Chatigny appears to have acted as an advocate rather than a neutral judge.

» Obama Media Chaos

The old media is worse than Pravda at this point in US history. They know their business model is dead, they refuse to admit their true allegiances and they strike out against all that challenge them with facts, just as an injured animal reflexively attacks when trapped. Ultimate Truth, released through the internet, the new media, in local diners, and in the hearts of decent citizens, is destroying this illegitimate media-government marriage.
