» Stopped in 80 Seconds: Armed Response, Not Gun Control, Halted School Rampage

Information released this week indicates that the perpetrator was planning a much larger attack and was armed with a shotgun, about 125 rounds of ammunition, three Molotov cocktails and a machete … “His intent was evil, and his evil intent was to harm multiple individuals.”

During a December 15 appearance on Face the Nation, Gov. Hickenlooper, was forced to admit that the very gun control bills he signed into law–and which resulted in the historic recalls of two state senators and the resignation of a third to avoid the same fate–did not make “a difference at all” in the school shooting.

Gun-control laws didn’t stop a possible massacre at Arapahoe High School. A good guy with a gun stopped the rampage …

» Courts Sitting on a Gun Rights Ruling

Four years is too long to wait for a ruling on a constitutional claim. Not for the ultimate vindication of a right that’s been summarily denied, mind you, but a mere ruling in a case asserting this right that has long ago been briefed and argued.

Barack Obama was kicking World War II veterans out of their own memorial during Shutdown Theater to thwart the kind of delay he just imposed.

Rejoice, humble peasants, because if Obama’s Big Lie about “keeping your plan if you like your plan” resulted in your plan getting canceled, His Benevolent Majesty, King Clusterfark I, has decreed that you won’t be fined for not having the insurance that you can’t afford because of his idiotic “law,” and couldn’t buy if you wanted to, because of his crappy website. And the announcement was delivered in the most cowardly manner imaginable, on the eve of the Christmas holiday.

… calling for nationwide rallies and protests to demand the resignations and added that a peaceful “civil uprising is still not out of question.”
… force the resignations of Obama, Vice President Joe Biden, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif.

One of the issues that alarms Vallely is the high number of senior officers in the U.S. military who have been fired under the Obama administration, a toll estimated at one officer per week. Indeed, Vallely has been very outspoken to what he calls a “purge” of the U.S. military by the Obama administration — with a stunning nine generals and flag officers relieved of duty this year alone.

Obama is “intentionally weakening and gutting our military, Pentagon and reducing the U.S. as a superpower, and anyone in the ranks who disagrees or speaks out is being purged.”

it is unprecedented for the number of four-star generals to be relieved of duty, and not necessarily relieved for cause,” Boykin said. “I believe there is a purging of the military. The problem is worse than we have ever seen.”

Somebody tell me: are we on past “tragedy” and into the “farce” phase yet? And is it still “terrorism” and “anarchy” to be messing around with the Settled Law of the Land like this?

» New York Times *finally* tells its readers: #Obamacare is awful for the middle class.

The New York Times is starting to get a bit nervous about this health care law thing.

what’s happening to the Chapman is not a bug in the system. It is the system. The idea behind Obamacare’s health care ‘plan’ was to transfer wealth from the middle class to the poor, the healthy to the sick, and from the young to the old. It was simply couched as an ‘and everybody will have lower health care costs and better service!’ program because there was (and is!) no politically viable way to sell ‘higher premiums, higher deductibles, and fewer doctors’ to the middle class. And President Obama’s stop-gap measure of offering access to horrible insurance to make up for Obamacare taking away the perfectly fine insurance people already had isn’t really going to help matters either. Not in the country, not at the voting booth.

Rights vs rights – Seems to me that we are missing the point. And by ‘we’, I mean we Americans … all of us. Or at least, most of us.
Mind if I ramble a little bit?
What are “gay rights”? By hanging the word ‘gay’ on the front of the word ‘rights’, is someone trying to tell us that there are rights that only gays have?
Who has the right to get married? All of us? Just gays? Just heteros? Or none of the above?

I say none of us … no one has the Right to marry, for if we did we wouldn’t have to ask for it.
I had to ask Donna to marry me, it wasn’t my Right. I had to ask her father for her hand. I had to apply for and pay for a frikkin’ license to marry. I had no Right to make her my wife. I had only the right to ask, the right to pursue.

What, beside marriage, is included in the so-called rights of gays? The right to live free of violence, harassment, discrimination, exclusion, stigmatization, and prejudice based on sexual orientation and gender identity that undermine personal integrity and dignity. That sentence came from LGBT rights at the United Nations. (Not to endorse Wikipedia or the U.N. as any sort of authority on any subject … ever.)
None of those words apply to gays alone, do they?

And that is my problem with all the foot-stomping, frothing vitriol of the “gay rights” activists. They don’t have a single right more than me – or visy versy.

The list of actual rights exclusive to gays is empty – so if gays expect to be taken seriously in their pursuit of … whatever … they’re gonna have to stop demanding rights that no one else has – especially in those cases where they trample actual rights of others.

By tolerating the constant re-invention of the concept of Rights, we are allowing it to be eroded, nullified and diluted to the eventual point at which the original concept means nothing. When the definition of human rights becomes everything and anything that somebody wants to whine about, then the entire concept will be treated as a fad and will go away.
And I believe that is the ultimate goal. Not the goal of gays in general, but of the radicals that use them – the same radicals that debase the right to free speech and the right to self defense. The same radicals that work to erase borders, deny rights of private property, redistribute our wealth, force us to purchase services and commodities under threat of fine and imprisonment and basically control every aspect of our lives.

It is high time for all Americans to pause and clarify our understanding and perception of the concept of Rights.

» We Can Have Gay Rights or Freedom of Speech

The left sneers that A&E isn’t subject to Freedom of Speech because it’s a private company. And they’re right. But then they insist that a cakemaker and a photographer aren’t protected by Freedom of Speech or Religion because they’re private businesses.

In their constitutional universe, companies have the right to punish speech in the name of gay rights, but not to engage in protected speech in dissent from gay rights

Gay marriage was sold to Americans by cunningly crafted “gay families” on popular sitcoms. Now Americans are discovering that real gay activists aren’t friendly people who just want to make jokes between commercial breaks, but are neurotic and insecure bullies who attack others from behind the safety of the politicians that they bribed with the massive disposable incomes that comes from not having families or long-term relationships.

The American tolerance for things like homosexuality comes from a mindset that is a lot closer to Phil Robertson than it is to Barack Obama. It’s that very Phil Robertson attitude which allows Americans to disapprove of homosexuality, while accepting that homosexuals should have spaces for expressing their need for political identity ceremonies. That tolerance led to civil unions and then gay marriage. And that tolerance has been woefully abused.

Americans are far more tolerant of sexual misbehavior than they are of people trying to take away their civil rights. And that is something that gay rights activists need to consider carefully.

the gay rights movement, which is just another pimple on the bony arm of the left, is showing its true colors. It is showing that its calls for tolerance are really mandates for intolerance.

It isn’t looking for public spaces in which to be gay, but the elimination of public and even private spaces that reject homosexuality. It’s not gay rights that we are talking about, but gay mandates.

~~ via iOwnTheWorld : Compare and Contrast

I support Christians as long as they do not violate other people’s civil rights. I support gay people as long as they do not violate other people’s civil rights.

People have the fundamental right to insult. You have no civil right that protects you from how people feel about you.

If you simply say “sodomites will go to hell,” steps will be taken by the gay gestapo to see to it that you will be economically murdered.

Sorry gays. I stand with the Christians, whether I believe in heaven or hell or not. That’s how irrational you’ve become.

» White House review panel: NSA data collection hasn’t stopped a single terrorist attack

… a prediction here. Moving forward, President Obama will try to align himself more with the review panel than his own policies implemented by the NSA. See, he likes to stay above the fray and let somebody else take the blame for what he is ultimately responsible for. So, instead of receiving blame for domestic spying, President Obama will try to appear as the one who put a stop to it.

But here’s the kicker: they won’t put a stop to it. They’ll simply issue a directive with meaningless “guidelines” to “ensure that nobody’s rights are violated.” And then the Obama administration will turn a blind eye as the NSA continues to spy on every single American citizen.

Not that every fetus would necessarily grow up to be a George Bailey. But if you don’t at least believe in the potential of a fetus – or a newborn – to become someone decent and of consequence, then you’ve hardened your heart to life itself.

But if you do believe in that potential, then you’ll grieve the loss of so many lives. And mourn the millions of unborn who, unlike George Bailey, never got the chance to say “I want to live!”
