» Rep. Louie Gohmert launches conservative PAC to defend candidates against establishment Republican attacks

The new GOH Conservative PAC, inspired by the Senate Conservatives Fund, “defends conservative Republicans from the attacks that come from the mainstream,” Gohmert told TheDC. “That’s been a problem, we’ve seen in some races, where we’ve had leadership come and play and there was no counterbalance. So I’m going to do something about it.”

Gohmert detailed a long history of struggle and a do-nothing spirit within the Republican caucus, and the “depression” conservative House members felt when Speaker John Boehner conceded that Republicans shut down the government, a statement that must have been based on “reading the mainstream media and failing to read the record.”

“There’s a war against the tea party. There’s a war against conservatives, we’re told. If somebody declares war on me I’m not just going to lie down and take it. I’m going to fight.”

» THE TED CRUZ MAJORITY What’s a revolution without a food taster?

Cruz infuriated his Senate Republican colleagues this week when he filibustered a clean bill to raise the debt limit. His objection forced Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (Ky.) and 11 other Republicans to vote with Democrats to advance the legislation.
But in Iowa and New Hampshire, two important presidential primary states, conservative activists are cheering Cruz’s stand and buzzing about a possible presidential run in 2016.

Translation for conservatives? Yet again the GOP establishment caved. Is it any wonder Ted Cruz is going to be getting that hero’s welcome next month? Or that out there in America at the grassroots level it can be said “that it’s a close vote between who they distrust the most, the president, [Speaker] John Boehner [R-Ohio] or Mitch McConnell”?

Just as Ted Cruz knew he couldn’t stop the debt ceiling increase, Ronald Reagan knew he couldn’t stop his Clean Water veto from being overridden. Democrats had the votes. But as was true throughout his active political life, Reagan believed it was important to draw a line in the sand so “we can point out to the people how different the Dems and Repubs are.” Reagan — and the GOP — were amply rewarded for this strategy. In fact, it was exactly this that prompted voters to elect Reagan twice in two landslides

As much as I like Ted Cruz I cannot, so far, go along with a “Cruz 2016”.
I’m not sure that Ted is constitutionally eligible. After browsing through the comments, I finally found one that made that point:

Is Ted Cruz constitutionally eligible to serve as a US President? NO! Under 8USC1401(a)(7), if he was born in Canada in 1970, then his mother is the key to him being a US citizen. But, his mother was not in Canada on US government orders, so she could not confer US citizenship of a child born out of the US to a non-US citizen father.
1401.(a) Nationals and citizens of United States at birth
The following shall be nationals and citizens of the United States at birth:

1966 – Subsec. (a)(7). Pub. L. 89-770 authorized periods of employment with the United States Government or with an international organization by the citizen parent, or any periods during which the citizen parent is physically present abroad as the dependent unmarried son or daughter and a member of the household of a person (A) honorably serving with the Armed Forces of the United States, or (B) employed by the United States Government or an international organization, to be included in order to satisfy the physical presence requirement, and permitted the proviso to be applicable to persons born on or after December 24, 1952.

It’s still early enough to determine the truth in that before decision time, so I’m not gonna worry myself bald over it.
And NO … precedent has not been set as suggested by another tongue-in-cheek comment:

since america has already elected a kenyan born, bong smoking, communist leaning, muslim-centric left winger….. i would think that the sky is the limit!!!

» Record U.S. Gun Production as Obama ‘Demonized’ on Issue

U.S. gun makers … churned out a record number of firearms in 2012 … continuing a trend of robust production during Democratic presidencies.

“Barack Obama is the stimulus package for the firearms industry … The greatest irony of the Obama administration is that the one industry that he may not have really liked to see healthy has become the healthiest industry in the United States.”

Obama isn’t the only Democratic president to see a spike in gun production. More than 33 million firearms were manufactured during Democrat Bill Clinton’s two terms, which was more than the 28 million produced during Bush’s presidency. Just over 16 million firearms were manufactured during Republican George H.W. Bush’s single term.

Clinton antagonized gun-rights groups by pressing for stricter gun control. He signed legislation mandating background checks on firearm purchases and a ban on assault weapons

From the comments, a precious nugget of truth:

* sheeesh….why can’t we conservatives figure out a way to be as successful in politics as in gun sales…

* We’ll be successful again when we turn off the TV and get back to our roots in the Constitution.

… the Forbes 400 (America’s wealthiest individuals) list is populated with dozens upon dozens of self-made billionaires.
It’s income mobility that makes America great, you progressive dimwit, not income equality.

It’s getting harder and harder to make fools of Progressives, or at least to be the first, because they do it themselves.

» Progressive Insanity and the Global Warming Cult

Progressives will do virtually anything to advance their agenda. In the arena of global warming, they have resorted to hysteria and angry denunciation of those who dare to question their infallible “wisdom.” And as it is with every aspect of their agenda, such wisdom must be imposed at the expense of liberty.

Clarification required – the Progressive agenda here is not about global warming. The agenda is gaining total control over industrial, commercial and economic enterprise. They have decided that in order to do so, they must first force those capitalists to their knees with egregiously oppresive regulation. Global warming (or climate change as it’s called now) is simply the currently chosen tool being used.

Leading the charge is Secretary of State John Kerry, who epitomized the above approach in a speech to Indonesian students, civic leaders and government officials in Jakarta, Indonesia. First he laced into one the left’s favorite punching bags, namely the coal and oil industries …

”We should not allow a tiny minority of shoddy scientists and science and extreme ideologues to compete with scientific facts,” he declared.

Unbelievably, Kerry was not referring to the shoddy scientists of the global warming crowd who have been exposed as absolute frauds and liars – repeatedly. “Extreme ideologues” – that would be the definition of the idiots who recently stranded a ship in Antarctic boat-crushing ice in order to prove there was no ice because of global warming.
Kerry says “We should not allow” and “We don’t have time for”. Sounds a bit tyrannic, eh?

Possibly suspecting that his presentation might be insufficient to galvanize the unwashed masses, Kerry added a dash of fear to the mix. ”This city, this country, this region, is really on the front lines of climate change,” Kerry warned. “It’s not an exaggeration to say that your entire way of life here is at risk. In a sense, climate change can now be considered the world’s largest weapon of mass destruction, perhaps even, the world’s most fearsome weapon of mass destruction,”

They then address the aforementioned computer models, rightly noting that those created to explain the phenomenon were built “almost entirely” by scientists heavily invested in the idea of “catastrophic” global warming. Unsurprisingly, those investments have tainted the science behind them, which explains why many of the dire predictions they engendered have turned out to be “spectacularly wrong.”

That wrongness is invariably followed by a litany of excuses. One was the idea that an increased use of aerosols by human beings that ostensibly “skewed” the results. Moreover, the “consensus” scientists continue to ignore data that does not accrue to their political convictions
… climate change promoters virtually ignore the disastrous economic effects their policies would engender.

That such a message condemns billions of people around the world to a life of subsistence survival — when they survive at all — is of little consequence. Apparently for progressives, “saving the planet” has little to do with saving the people who inhabit it.

And once again a president who has made a mockery of the rule of law and the constitutionally-mandated separation of power is determined to advance those policies “with our without” Congress.

That the Obama administration would sacrifice the well-being of millions of Americans and billions of impoverished people to force-feed that future is precisely what they did to the nation when they force-fed it ObamaCare based on the same litany of hysteria, lies and smears they are using here. One can only wonder when Americans will tire of the progressive lust for power wrapping itself as noble intentions.

» Only under Holder

Chalk up yet one more legal fiasco to Attorney General Eric Holder. Apart from failing to enforce Obamacare, immigration, and the drug laws, the administration continues to endanger national security with its catch-and-release approach to terrorists. In a preview of the consequences of its plans to close Guantanamo Bay, the Obama Justice department (DOJ) is starting to apprehend terrorists abroad and free them at home.

» Harvard’s Rebel Without a Clue

Who, then, is this fierce critic of American empire, this enemy of capitalism, this scourge of Wall Street?

She’s a product of precisely the kind of upper-class American suburban life for which she has professed an ardent class contempt. And she’s about to collect an immensely valuable diploma after utterly squandering a magnificent, world-class opportunity to actually learn something. Instead of grasping this opportunity, she’s spent the last four years marinating in her own ideology by writing articles, participating in activism, and taking “courses” that are about nothing more than Being Ideologues Together. There’s no sign that she’s been educated at all, in any sense of the term – no sign that she’s learned anything of significance about, say, history or economics, no sign that she’s developed any understanding of the way the world works, no sign that she grasps the concept of challenging one’s own assumptions by taking in unfamiliar facts and grappling with ideas different from one’s own. She mentions her professors in her columns only to upbraid them. (Several of her profs, for example, have urged her to work on not saying “you know” and “like” in every sentence – which she rejects as an effort to make her speech patterns more masculinist.) She gives every indication, in fact, of having arrived at Harvard believing that she already knew everything she needed to know and of having viewed her presence on campus as a chance not to obtain a first-rate education but to roil the waters in a very big pond.

In a jaw dropping Harvard Crimson piece, student Sandra Y.L. Korn claims that we should abandon notions of academic freedom in favor of “justice.”

The helpful SDS activists were just trying to rid Harvard of thinking “they deemed racist and classist,” says Korn, and their bully tactics should be used against such threats as Harvey Mansfield (one of Harvard’s only conservative profs), and Israeli academics whose crime is to work in the only stable democracy in the Middle East. Of course, the word “deemed” is the key.
… I was surprised and heartened by the comments thread on Korn’s piece. As of this writing, there are 159 comments, almost all of them critical of Korn.

The author lists a few of his favorite anti-Korn comments. My personal fav:

Saying yer a girl don’t make it so, honey.

Get a life, you fey twit.

And this back and forth:

I think that what you are saying is dangerous and oppressive and therefore must be banned.

Thanks to academic justice, I can declare that you are in the right. It is just that the author is banned.

Well, I don’t agree with your banning. I think your banning should be banned

We shall ban your banning of my banning of the Israeli banning. Take that!

Your disagreement with each other constitutes hate speech. You are both banned…and you are fired, also.

So, despite appearances, the commies may not be the Harvard majority that they assume.
