» Mission Accomplished

“Under my plan of a cap and trade system, [energy prices] would necessarily skyrocket. Even regardless of what I say about whether coal is good or bad. Because I’m capping greenhouse gases, coal power plants, you know, natural gas, you name it — whatever the plants were, whatever the industry was… [t]hey will pass that money on to consumers.” –Barack Obama, 1 November 2008

» Produce Starting to Rot; But Prices Barely Coming Down

Since getting home tonight, watching about Libya and the rest of the damned world in flames and realizing that nothing I’d ever known could be relied on anymore, that ominous distant rumbling that is getting closer, like a stalking beast about to bare his teeth and pounce, it was difficult for me to ponder much on what the future might look like; especially given my background in history, the math of patterns, and the steps of critical thinking. We have a President who is breaking our laws and committing sedition with no consequences whatsoever, with no knowledge of how the world works and the importance of our business sector (and it’s showing in our produce aisle!), Islammunism gobbling up the Middle East on its mad dash here—through Israel, who is our friend in spite of what our criminal leader has to say—and a world I barely recognize anymore.
What will it look like tomorrow? Dare I open my eyes?

» After Obama, the Deluge

Gas prices in many parts of the country are nearing $4 a gallon; it could get even worse as unrest spreads throughout the oil-exporting Middle East. Yet the Obama administration once again seems to see no crisis. It has curtailed new leases for offshore oil exploration for seven years and exempted thousands of acres in the West from new drilling. It will not reconsider opening up small areas of Alaska with known large oil reserves.

Instead, the administration in 2009 pushed through cap-and-trade legislation in the House on the dubious proposition that, in times of unusually cold American winters, the planet is warming up. Accordingly, the administration would like to tax further the already high price of fossil fuels rather than go all out to look for more. Yet importing more oil from abroad and growing more subsidized biofuels at home will lead to a disastrous trifecta of borrowing even more money, ensuring greater global pollution and causing higher world food prices.

Some people are addictd to alcohol; some to heroin, cocaine and other opiates; some to amphetamines and hallucinogenics. Then you get onto the psychological addictions like gambling; or sex or porn.

Without minimizing all these very real societal problems, I submit that an even greater number of people in our society are addicted to spending other people’s money.

» The Friday Afternoon Roundup

It’s funny how the media breathlessly reports that Khaddafi spent 1 million dollars to fly in one singer or another for a performance, and yet the White House has flown in far more singers, at doubtlessly far greater expense to throw themselves a party.

It Used to be Funny

We are supposed to pity the poor Libyan people whose evil overlords shamelessly squandered millions on concerts by famous musicians

— and simultaneously thrill at the news that our own overlords are spending millions on throwing concerts in the White House.

ll this might have been forgivable, if the big zero hadn’t been making constant noises about his commitment to cutting spending. If his first spouse hadn’t appointed herself Czar of America’s Kitchens, in between gorging during her constant vacationing. If they just admitted that they were rotten liars who are going to take us for all they can get– then we could almost tolerate their thievery. So many Americans forgave Clinton when he smiled and winked, but wouldn’t forgive him when he self-righteously shook his finger at us, when everyone knew he was lying. Obama has never stopped shaking his finger at us, while going from the party to the golf course.

Compare if you will, Sam Slom, the one Republican state senator in Hawaii, with the fleebager senators of Wisconsin. There is a pattern here. Republicans in the minority ask questions and challenge legislation, Democrats in the minority try to sabotage the system. Republican congressmen were being compared to terrorists for obstructing Obama’s program. But Wisconsin Senators are heroes for absconding to Illinois. A Republican shutdown of the government is considered a worst case scenario, but Democratic shutdowns of the governments are much admire.

» Negotiations over

Very nearly worshipped by liberals for his New Deal interventionism, this president was conservative enough to understand how the over-empowerment of government workers could cheat the common good.

Government, he said, is supposed to be answerable to “the whole people” instead of some segment that comes along with the binding tool of collective bargaining. His gist was that government employees should understand they have a distinct obligation to serve the public, not force the public to serve them. The last thing permissible, Roosevelt added, is “militant tactics.”

With the shrillest possible militancy, the unionists protesting in Madison screeched instead that collective bargaining is their right. Sorry, but they have no more “right” to intrude on state sovereignty than any select group has. Public employee unions are a relatively recent if chilling blip in American history.

You Get What You Tolerate
So says a commenter on the following:
» Foreign squatters given legal aid to fight eviction from £1million house… as its British owner has to represent himself in court
Consider the ridiculous, preposterously idiotic crap going on in Britain. Now imagine you could go back 10 years and tell a Brit what it was going to be like. He would say “don’t be bloody stupid” while rolling his eyes – exactly the way some Americans roll their eyes when you try to tell them what to expect as the fruits of tolerating liberalism.
