» What Would Free Men Do?

Yesterday I had a lot of time to think. I stood for two hours on the street across from the NC Capital and watched the circus. This was not Barnum and Bailey. This was a street performance by SEIU, SEANC, Teamsters, etc. and their progressive, socialist and communist organizers.

Many smart conservatives with good intentions have worked hard to find ways to communicate with these Looters, the “useful idiots”, “tools” of the communists, who carry the socialist and progressive banners. Despite best efforts one can see little net effect on the dialog or events over the last two years.

I reflected on the loss of Liberty endured to confront the lunacy across the street. To stand at this event today, I submitted to Statutes of NC and the Ordinances of Raleigh which stripped me of some of my Rights for the privilege of permitting me to exercise others. One should never have to surrender one Right to exercise another. It is unreasonable to relinquish my Right to defend my life where agitators cross into our crowd to provoke conflict.

Our State and City have passed laws that attempt to make our human rights mutually exclusive. If I want to peacefully assemble to picket I must not be armed. If I am armed, I must distance myself from locations where free speech is exercised. This is philosophically and morally wrong.

Why the union battle in Wisconsin is so important. Why you should be concerned, informed and active.

» Watershed Moment in Wisconsin

What’s happening in Madison is one front in the battle for the soul of America ….. important as the fight over public-sector unions is, that battle is only one aspect of a much larger battle: the battle over the fate of individual freedom in a neo-collectivist age.

What happens in Madison concerns not only the fate of some whining school teachers, fraud-abetting doctors, and the left-wing activists who are their enablers. It concerns the shape of this country, its hospitableness to liberty, economic growth, and individual autonomy.

Our stupendous affluence and power has lulled us into complacency and public profligacy. It is time to wake up.

» Wisconsin’s largest teachers’ union is an extremely profitable insurance business that happens to provide services to children on the side

Like me, you may be a little confused about the nature of the fight between the public sector unions and Wisconsin Republicans. After all, the unions are just upset about having to pay for some of their benefits, right?

Wrong.

This fight is about more than just benefits: it’s about a rigged insurance operation that no one in their right mind would choose if given a real choice in the matter.

WEA Trust stands to lose millions through Governor Walker’s heroic actions on behalf of the taxpayer – which is why the union bosses have reacted with violence, angry rhetoric and near-riots in the state capitol.

It has nothing to do with the kids. The union bosses want to steal more of your money with a crooked, rigged insurance scam.

» National Teacher’s Union Doubling Dues Contributions To Political/Media Activities
Pouring more (of our money) into their propaganda machine means what? That the battle for the hearts and minds has been won by the parasites?
Nope. The union thugs have let their mask slip a bit too far. Too many Americans have now seen enough of the real face of the unions and it ain’t a purdy sight.

» End Forced Unionism

Americans do not understand what “labor unions” mean. Nothing prevents a group of workers at a plant or office from getting together, signing an agreement which delegates power to negotiate contracts to certain representatives, and then proceeding with collective bargaining by those workers who chose to sign the agreement. That is not unionism; it is simply a business arrangement, much like when an athlete has an agent or a client has a lawyer.

The problem with unionism is that those who do not feel such an agreement is needed are compelled to surrender their right to bargain for their working conditions and compelled, as well, to support a vast, expensive bureaucracy of labor satraps.

…..
Only a mind focused on envy and anger can pretend that laws denying the liberty of employment somehow make life better.

» “Rising Oil Prices Pose New Threat to U.S. Economy”

The irony is that we’re sitting on an abundance of oil and natural gas right here in the US, and yet our own government — increasingly run by unelected leftist ideologues appointed to power in regulatory agencies like the EPA — won’t let us get to it, much less use it.

. . .

Make no mistake: oil prices are certainly being affected by the unrest in the middle east. But Libya exports only around 2% of the world’s oil. So scapegoating our soaring oil prices on Libya is a convenient progressive fiction. Obama himself told us energy prices would soar under his regime, as he planned to saddle the US with a Soviet-style industrial regulatory schemes. And unable to get them through Congress, he has concluded he can implement them through his regulatory agencies.

» LOGAN’S NON-RUN

The dying monodailies of the Democratic Party’s court eunuchs have refined the formula: Six million dead in the Congolese civil war don’t equal one Iraqi prisoner being led around Abu Ghraib on a dog collar – because there’s no way to blame the former on Bush and Rumsfeld. Likewise, in domestic terms, if a mentally deranged loner of no party affiliation or political philosophy whatsoever shoots up a Congressional grip-and-greet it must be because of Sarah Palin’s inflammatory use of metaphorical terms such as “target” and “campaign”, and we need to establish a “National Institute of Civil Discourse” in Arizona headed up by Bill Clinton (whose most recent contribution to “civil discourse” was to compare the Tea Party to Timothy McVeigh) and George H W Bush (who’s so unfailingly civil he feels it would be bad form not to get played for a sap one mo’ time). On the other hand, when legions and legions of grunting, illiterate, foul-mouthed “educators” intimidate their opponents’ families and brag of wanting to gangbang “teabaggers”, there are no civility issues whatsoever.
