» North Carolina Studying Offshore Energy Production

RALEIGH — An advisory committee to North Carolina’s General Assembly is studying whether the state should develop offshore energy. A major issue is how the state would bring oil, natural gas, or wind energy onshore and deliver new resources to consumers.

Shall we hold our breath?
pfffft. Advisory committee. How hard can it be? We humans have been pulling oil and gas out of the ocean and bringing it ashore for about 100 years, what’s to study?

» We’re gonna let the Founders’ freak flag fly

Look in the mirror right now—all of you children of the ’60s, and your children, too. The veterans of peace and love and Kent State losses and civil rights victories and your children who’ve heard the romanticized tales of what it was like.

Look in the mirror, because what you’ll see is a reverse image. A reverse image that you can’t stand. This summer, the summer of 2010, you’ll hear the drumming , but it’s the other side that’s inspired. There is no more Uncle Walter to declare Vietnam a lost cause. No Daniel Ellsburg with his Pentagon Papers. No more Ben Bradlee with his Watergate stories. Their legacies have shriveled like your retirement savings and the peace tattoo on your wrinkled skin.

We can both play the Saul Alinsky “Rules for Radicals” game. We can both fight with any means to justify the ends, as Saul would have us do. But there is one difference between the two sides in this battle which shows every intention of escalating. The long hairs who wrote the U.S. Constitution are on our side. And we’re gonna let their freak flag fly.

» Utah governor signs bills to seize federal land

Utah Gov. Gary R. Herbert has signed two bills authorizing the state to use eminent domain to seize some of the federal government’s most valuable land.
More than 60% of Utah is owned by the U.S. government

Take it all! Perhaps Virginia should make a move on the District.

The triumvarate of contradictions that claims to be based on “scientific” psychology includes the hyping of (1) self-esteem (increasing your self-worth without having to achieve anything); (2) hope (achieving your goals without any real effort) and (3) victimhood (it’s not your fault that you haven’t achieved anything or made any effort). See here for more discussion.

These three fundamental axioms of leftist thought have risen to prominence in our society even as concepts such as self-respect and personal responsibility have been mocked and denigrated.

» Marxist is as Marxist does

People who believe that health care is a right instead of a privilege embrace a fundamental principle of Marxism.

This belief system, articulated eloquently by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels in their Communist Manifesto, envisions the perfect society to be one in which everyone shares equally in work and wealth, coordinated by a hierarchy of representatives chosen from the workers. The Democratic Party considers its leaders to be that hierarchy, empowered to do whatever it takes to redistribute society’s wealth more equitably.

Despite the ridicule and denials that spew forth from the Democrats, the enactment of Obamacare is a victory for Marxism in the United States, recognized and publicly acknowledged by Al Sharpton. What Democrats have done is absolutely consistent with Marxism; the way it was done provides a course in this Marxist principle: the end justifies the means.

The first principle of the Communist Manifesto, the abolition of private property, has been high on the Democrats priority list for most of the century. They continue to use tax dollars to buy private property when necessary, take it whenever possible, or control it through regulations when all else fails.

Note that in one of the links above, it is revealed that the federal government owns 60% of the state of Utah.

Passage of Obamacare is the most dramatic step forward for the Marxist agenda in more than a generation. It must be undone. The U.S. Constitution does not authorize the federal government to force people to purchase insurance – unless the people allow it. The people must not allow it. This Marxist agenda must be stopped, and the only way to stop it is to remove the Marxist advocates from Congress and the White House.

» Stupak and his sheep

Bart Stupak has found a higher value than preserving human life: lockstep partisan loyalty. No serious adult can believe for an instance that the microscopic fig leaf of a meaningless executive order really persuaded this “Pro-Life” Democrat. Discussions about some sort of executive order had been floating around Washington for weeks. The easiest course, if an executive order was really the answer, would have been for Stupak to craft the best language he could long before the vote, share that language with Pro-Life groups and solicit their input, and then announce it before the Sunday vote.

Instead the congressman obviously caved to the pressure of his fellow Democrat, something more important to him an innocent baby’s life. Those people who understand the vile nature of unrestricted murder of the unborn do not miraculously (or, rather, diabolically) find in a massive, chaotic, and almost incomprehensible bill interests greater than that baby’s life. Stupak, clearly, never accept the fundamental morality of the Pro-Life argument. Instead, he found a way to get his moment of immortality. An otherwise unremarkable congressman from Michigan suddenly finds himself at the very center of national politics. Everyone hinges on what he says and does…and – amazingly! – Stupak sells moral principles for a scrap of paper so trite, so disingenuous, and so mockingly funny that one must wonder what price he would place on his children or his parents. Or what would have been his price in Weimar Germany for supporting the Nuremberg Laws? When something is evil, it is not made good because it is popular with the powerful. Stupak has no real answer for what he did.

» Blind Dog Democrats

The Blue Dog Democrat’s role ensuring the passage of health care reform makes clear that, as we say out here in America, that dog won’t hunt. It is evident from this time forward that the only dog in the Democrat party is a blind dog, waiting to be leashed and lead in the direction of its master’s choosing.
