…. the absurdity that gay marriage is becoming a right in places where plastic bags and large sodas are becoming against the law. This sort of next wave civil rights step is only an expansion of freedom if you aren’t paying attention.
» The Bad Good

Equality and justice are words that the left uses to cloud the question of who advocates the causes and who benefits from them. Who decides that the cause of justice and equality is served by limiting marriage to two gay men, rather than four gay men, three bisexual men, two women and a giraffe?
…. Equality and justice are words that the left uses to cloud the question of who advocates the causes and who benefits from them. Who decides that the cause of justice and equality is served by limiting marriage to two gay men, rather than four gay men, three bisexual men, two women and a giraffe?

Wait! You’ve heard it suggested, jokingly, that marriage will become something less than an honorable institution with people wanting to marry multiple partners, animals, relatives or even objects.
It ain’t a joke:
With this herring I thee wed
Woman Proves Love for Eiffel Tower With Commitment Ceremony

There is no longer a fixed notion of rights ….. The old Bill of Rights extended rights irrespective of group membership. The new one wipes out universal rights and replaces them with particular privileges.

There. That’s the heart of the issue, right there …. Rights. Note the uppercase ‘R’.
The gay marriage issue is one single facet of the Leftist’s effort to reduce the meaning of the word Rights.

By constantly introducing more and more wants as rights, then demanding those new rights and protesting for those new rights and getting the new rights guaranteed by government – the ultimate result is the dilution of real Rights. When everything that anyone wants becomes a right, then Rights are something bestowed by authority … granted or given by governments.
When the majority of citizens believe that all Rights are created by government, then they will believe that any Rights can be cancelled by government.
Once we reach that point, if we have not already, then the real Rights – the unalienable ones, the natural ones, the ones that cannot be taken, or voted away – can be ignored and pronounced no longer valid by the government. Your Right to own private property …. negated. Your Right to free speech …. abridged. Your Right to defend yourself means nothing when you no longer have the Right to Life itself …..

When all natural Rights have been effectively downgraded to wants, by equating wants with Rights, then the Leftists will have achieved the desired goal. A people with no Rights are no longer constituents, they are slaves.

Now, back to The Bad Good:

Since the nature of oppression and the identification of oppressed groups is open for debate, the legal doctrine means nothing. Every Democratic presidential candidate was against gay marriage in 2008 and for it now. What changed? Nothing, except the money changing hands and sitcoms about gay couples. And the latter is what it comes down to. Instead of church and state, we are stuck with sitcom and state where the existence of a television comedy is a reflection of national values.

And what happens when one of the burgeoning shows about polygamous marriages becomes a big hit? Then we’ll have no choice but to ratify polygamous marriage equality because that’s the new national values system and the television ratings prove that everyone is clearly down with it.

Once fixed rights made way for identity politics, we traded legal guarantees of freedom for government oversight of a confusing caste system in which some people have more rights than others based on the amount of rights they claim not to have, but everyone has fewer rights than they did before because rights are now arbitrary and the arbitrators work for the government.

How about one more link, just to emphasize the magnitude of absurdity to which this arguement has reached:

» Hooking kids on sex: PP starts “saturation process” in kindergarten

While the White House says sequestration has eliminated funds for children touring the White House, President Obama has no problem spending $350 million federal tax dollars for sexual indoctrination programs starting in kindergarten for those same children.

They are your children, your responsibility. You have a duty to protect and nurture them.
If whipping a school administrator’s ass becomes necessary to fulfill that duty, then not doing so is dereliction.

The main reason that you don’t need an “[Assault Weapon]” (or any gun for that matter) is State, the government, the police are there to protect you.

And, of course, if the State, the government, the police fail to do so then it’s probably your fault – you’re doing something that the State, the government, the police don’t think you should.
If your presence on your own dang property makes you susceptible to criminals, then, according to the State, the government, the police you haven’t invested enough time and wealth in hiring someone else with a gun to provide the protection and security that the State, the government, the police cannot.

But don’t you dare even think about arming yourself.

When asked if the weapons work, Sumner said they usually do not.

“They usually run away from the big rake, but the baseball bat, they look at you and it’s like, ‘What are you doing? Are you kidding?’”

As sheriffs across the nation signal opposition to enforcing additional federal gun regulations, the Utah Sheriffs’ Association sent a letter to President Obama assuring him that its members similarly will not comply.

Good. But I still don’t like that “cold dead hands” routine. I much prefer the inverse:

» Obama and Bloomberg try to put pressure on Senate Dems?

For folks who think “bolt, pump or lever” when it comes to action on firearms, the ad is not a winner. It has shades of the infamous 2010 Republican Senate ad in West Virginia that sought “hicky” actors in a casting call.
But the real objective here is not so much to sway public opinion but to let these lawmakers know that Bloomberg is watching them and will make life difficult next year for those who do not join his and Obama’s effort for a gun ban.

And you also now know the answer to the question: Can what happened in Cyprus, happen in America?
No. Or more accurately: No, not until the government confiscates all our guns.

And so now you also know one answer to another question: Why does the government want to take our guns?

» A nation suckered

No doubt you were shocked, shocked to learn that Jeffrey Hillman, the “barefoot beggar” who famously received a free pair of boots from a kindly NYPD cop, turned out to be a scam artist who preys on the kindness of strangers to provide him with an apartment, money and plenty of footwear.
…. That’s right — someone pretending to be in dire straits turns out to be a) not destitute, b) not homeless and c) not shoeless.

But then, Hillman’s just a piker when it comes to the rising culture of sham dependency that is rapidly turning this country from a nation of self-reliant citizens to shuffling pseudo-mendicants and conniving criminals who have one hand extended to collect government largesse while the other is busily picking your pocket.

Nearly 18 million people — one in 20 Americans — are collecting some $170 billion a year in disability payments, a record high, and the government estimates that fraud and other improper payments account for $25 billion of disability spending over a recent four-year period.

Like the “barefoot beggar,” who only needs to take his shoes off to get free stuff, Dependency Nation has learned how easy it is to take the government for a ride. In many cases, it’s simply a matter of correctly — if fraudulently — filling out the right forms and sending them in.

» Obama administration withdraws plan to use taxpayer funds for sex-change operations

The Obama administration has withdrawn a proposal to allow Medicare to pay for sex-change operations.
The policy change was expected to draw criticism from Congress and perhaps taxpayers. However, the Department of Health and Human Services said Friday the proposal was withdrawn until the agency’s appeals board considers a challenge to the federal government’s existing policy that such operations are experimental and should not be covered by Medicare or Medicaid

The plan was withdrawn because the Federal Bureau of Propaganda (formerly known as the media) failed to hide the fact and too many people heard about it and complained.
The plan will be reinserted once the Obamastration deems the issue to have died down, probably due to redirected attention to one of dozens of other treacheries being perpetrated by the Obamastration .

» Alabama Pols: Frothing Racist Democrat ‘An Embarrassment to the State’

Most Democrats are not interested in civil discourse. They want a one-way discussion where they speak and insult you and you shut up and take it. It’s like the so-called “national conversation” about guns. They want to disarm you, ridicule you and beat you into submission and you’re simply to dummy up and hand over your firearms. That’s their idea of a conversation. It goes one way. If you don’t like it, you’re a racist. It also speaks volumes the Democrats have yet to call for his resignation.

» Want Peace? Stop the Blood Libel

The article in question was discovered by the pro-Israel blogger Elder of Ziyon and written by Nawaf al-Zaru on MIFTAH’s Arabic-language site. Here’s the quote:

Does Obama in fact know the relationship, for example, between Passover and Christian blood. ..?!Or Passover and Jewish blood rituals…?!Much of the chatter and gossip about historical Jewish blood rituals in Europe are real and not fake as they claim; the Jews used the blood of Christians in the Jewish Passover.

And the Blood Libel continues … during a Jewish Holy Day. It’s meant to incite more hatred and violence against Jews and further get the support for their hate-fest, by Christians.

So, the Palestinian Authority says they want peace? Then let’s start with the cessation of the filthy Blood Libel against the Jewish people. It’s ostensible that the entire Muslim/Arab world needs deprogramming from the hate they have been fed since the womb, but given that this will take decades to do (if ever): Let’s begin with this bloody bunk.

Eventually the climate modeling community is going to have to reconsider the central question: Have the models the IPCC uses for its predictions of catastrophic warming overestimated the climate’s sensitivity to greenhouse gases?

The new issue of The Economist has a long feature on the declining confidence in the high estimates of climate sensitivity. That this appears in The Economist is significant, because this august British news organ has been fully on board with climate alarmism for years now. A Washington-based Economist correspondent admitted to me privately several years ago that the senior editors in London had mandated consistent and regular alarmist climate coverage in its pages.
The Economist story, though hedged with every reservation to Keep Hope Alive, is nonetheless a clear sign that it’s about over for the climate campaign.

While climateers continue to beat the drum that each year is among the hottest since Satan opened his first furnace at Hades Hostel for Hapless Heathens, there has been an embarrassed silence, if not outright denial (heh), that temperatures have flattened out over the last 15 years. Now even the leading climateers can’t maintain a straight face over this any more ….

Good. S’about time. I’m getting tired of wasting bandwidth on the stupid subject.

» Ron Arnold: Energy gap leaves Britain freezing in the dark

As freezing temperatures, gales and blizzards of deadly “100-year, record-smashing” spring storms battered Europe this past month, the energy gap I’ve warned about for years hit the headlines: “It’s payback time for our insane energy policy,” ….

Hypothermia has killed thousands, losses to the economy have soared into the billions, and the wintry spring has wrought mayhem on the roads, closed businesses and smashed power lines.

…. the nation had barely 48 hours’ worth of stored natural gas left to keep the population warm. “Our generating capacity has fallen so low that we can expect power cuts to begin at any time.”

Why? Because instead of developing its vast natural gas resources to fuel gas-fired generators, Britain has been building wind turbines
