» The Patriotism of Palestinianism

Senator Leahy, who could not discover a national interest in the Balanced Budget Amendment, drilling for oil in ANWR or detaining Muslim terrorists, all of which he voted against; finally discovered a binding national interest 5,500 miles away in Jordan, where “refugee camps” like Baqa’a (pop. 80,000), which are virtually indistinguishable from local towns and cities, complete with block after block of residential homes, stores and markets, multi-story office buildings, schools, hospitals and assorted infrastructure, must not be looked at too closely.
There are currently five million people living off the UNRWA dole. Sooner or later there will be fifty million. Jordan’s government has done everything possible to inflate the UNRWA welfare rolls and keep cities like Baqa’a and their people on the Western dole. One day the Jordanian government, the British-appointed monarchy ruling over the original Palestinian state, may decide to give up the farce and put all their people on the UNRWA rolls as refugees. And we’ll have to keep on paying without asking any questions– after all, it is in our “national interest”.

» Spain scuttles clean-energy subsidies; promptly watches the industry go down like a sinking ship

Here’s the message that Spain’s green-subsidy policies sent out to the world: ‘Hey, if you’ve got an idea for a green-energy project that you don’t think can compete on its own merits and turn a profit in the free market, come on over to Spain and we’ll hook you up with some sweet subsidies!’ Ergo, it should hardly come as a surprise that fiscal emergency has forced Spain to put an indefinite hold on the subsidies, and the clean-energy companies are immediately flocking to greener pastures.

Yikes. Didn’t really think that one through, did you, Spain?

Europe just keeps on proffering examples of precisely what governments shouldn’t do, but alas, will the United States ever listen?

On the cusp of a pivotal moment for liberty
» June can’t come soon enough

…. the Supreme Court is expected in June to hand down its decision on the constitutionality of Obamacare, specifically, the individual mandate provision of President Obama’s signature health care law, which requires Americans to purchase health insurance or face government sanction.
…. Should the court uphold the individual mandate, it effectively will have abolished the limited, constitutional republic the Founding Fathers created more than two centuries ago. The government of the United States will have undergone a paradigm shift. With no legal constraints on its power over the lives of its citizens, Obamacare will serve as precedent for an ever-expanding, ever-ravenous federal bureaucracy with license to dictate anything that may impact your health – in other words, everything.

If the court rules against (THHO)Obama, then the left may lose it’s collective mind … they have worked so hard for so very long to get something, anything, unconstitutiona like Obamacare codified into law. They are not likely to give it up without a fight.

On another front, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker is facing a union-driven recall election on June 5, the repercussions of which could reverberate around the country and perhaps the world.
For decades, public-sector unions have gained access to government treasuries via a singular, corrupt process: Unions spend millions to elect politicians who then repay their union masters with ever-larger and more generous salary and benefit packages. The tab for this largesse, of course, is picked up by the taxpayer, driving the budget crises that are afflicting municipalities and states across the country.

Now some mayors and governors are fighting back.

We’re not talking about paper fights, or rhetorical fights. When the unions fight, the unions fight. Unions rate the success of their fights by the volume of blood spilled.

Mr. Walker’s reforms may survive, and Obamacare may perish. That would make June a great month for both fiscal sanity and personal liberty.

But July, or August or forever more may be a sad time for civilization as the spurned left loses the last finger hold on reality and sanity. Add to their loss of Obamacare and union ownership of Wisconsin the probability of losing their crusade to crucify Zimmerman – along with almost inevitable eviction of the first American Communist president.
That is one big cage of rabid, snarling mangy dogs breaking their teeth on the bars.

There’s a fight coming, one that you may not be able to simply watch.

» Why former Rep. Artur Davis is switching from Democrat to Republican

Even though I wasn’t crazy about “Bill Clinton’s Democratic Party” back in the day, I have to say it would be much more preferable to the far left mentality we see in most elected Democrats today – especially in the case of our radicalized celebrity President and certain members of Congress. It goes without saying that Obama Democrats are bad news for America. It took a lot of guts for Davis to switch parties in this highly charged climate and then openly announce such – even though he is not in Congress anymore – because he is black and few “minority” groups ever feel the wrath of “tolerant” leftists like black people and gay people who either have never toed the Democrat party line or who wake up from doing so at some point in their lives. And right now when all black Democrats are supposed to fall in line behind Barack Obama come election time, Davis making his views public should be considered all the more bold.

What else can Obama do to disgrace the office of the presidency? I know — award the Presidential Medal of Freedom to a commie ….

» Jay Carney tries, fails to explain the difference between Bain Capital and Obama’s “green loans” program

51 agonizing seconds of Carney trying to explain on the fly why Solyndra going bust is a normal win-some-lose-some result when you’re investing in new ventures whereas Bain’s investments going bust is proof that Mitt Romney’s a vampire who enjoys seeing people laid off. There are of course easy distinctions that can be made here, but unfortunately for JC they don’t favor his position. For one thing, Bain evidently did due diligence on the companies it bought instead of rushing them through so that the president of the firm could get a sweet photo op. For another thing, when one of Bain’s acquisitions failed, it wasn’t your taxpayer dollars that went down the toilet with it. Deprived of either of those arguments, here’s the best Carney can do.
