» The Emperor’s Magic New Debate

Romney is a qualified professional. Obama is a talented amateur. None of that is really new. What is new is the product comparison that the debate made possible.

The iconization of Obama elevated an ordinary ambitious junior machine pol with a funky bio to the status of a deity. And it was done by singling him out, by treating him as a unique incomparable quantity, a force of history, a living embodiment of poetry, a racial healer and a thousand other empty titles. All of those were meant to avoid comparing Obama with anything else, except the occasional iconic dead president.
Suddenly Obama could be compared to another human being. Suddenly he was standing next to that human being and fumbling with his lines and looking withered. Suddenly he was not a trend, an icon, a glorious new future, but only human. Suddenly there was nothing special about him at all.

» The CEO Versus the Amateur

We’re being told that The One was really comatose because Governor Romney’s “lies” were so “overwhelming and frequent.” Unfortunately, the president wasn’t overcome by his opponent’s “lies”; he was gob-smacked by his opponent’s aptitude.
Much was made of Mr. Romney looking and speaking directly to the president while the president refused to address Mr. Romney directly most of the time. He looked away, looked down, he smirked, he wrote notes. Most ascribe this behavior to the president’s discomfort with how the debate was unfolding. Another possibility should be considered — the depth of the president’s narcissism. This is the behavior of a man seeking to show contempt for his opponent. It’s the body language of a liar.

The Obama campaign has been reeling since losing the first Presidential debate of this election cycle in front of 67 million viewers. They’ve tried–and thus far failed–to craft a narrative to explain away the debacle in Denver. Previously, we reported to you that Obama Senior Advisor David Plouffe, who ran the President’s successful 2008 campaign, (falsely) accused Mitt Romney of lying. In a rare comedic moment from the typically robotic former Vice President Al Gore, he suggested on Current TV that the Mile High City’s altitude was the reason Obama was low on energy and enthusiasm. And, of course, Obama’s chronically dishonest deputy campaign manager Stephanie Cutter and several others passed the buck to the moderator, Jim Lehrer. None of the above caught on, even with the mainstream pro-Obama media.
Now the Obama Administration is floating their latest excuse: that the campaign, particularly John Kerry (who played the role of Romney in simulated debates), did not channel Mitt’s aggression enough.

John Kerry failed to channel Mitt’s superiority, a task for which he was woefully incapable.

» Downed drone: Iran testing Israel’s capabilities

Unmanned aircraft shot down by F-16 jets in south Israel was apparently launched from Lebanon by Hezbollah, or perhaps even by the Iranians themselves; IDF looking into possibility aircraft was supposed to photograph Dimona reactor
Hezbollah tried to conceal the fact that it had sent the drone by selecting a long route that passed through the Mediterranean Sea. It wanted the drone to enter Israel near Gaza, perhaps in an attempt to place the blame on Hamas
Iran recently announced that it had developed small unmanned aircraft and cruise missiles with a range of hundreds and maybe even thousands of kilometers.

~~ via Doug Ross : SPHINCTER-CLENCHING DRAMA: Iran firing drones into Israel

To put it in simple terms for drones, leftists and other miscreants:

• Iran is arming Hezbollah with increasingly sophisticated reconnaissance and weapons-delivery platforms

• Iran is reportedly weeks away from completing its first nuclear weapon

• Iran’s proxy terror group — Hezbollah — is also operating in Mexico, assisting drug cartels with the construction of car-bombs and other terror tactics

• The administration’s “open borders” policy — and tacit endorsement of illegal immigration — raises the possibility of terror groups smuggling nuclear weapons into the U.S. through our southern border

With Obama in office, I’m thinking the Mayans were onto something.

» Obama Flying to LA to Reassure Hollywood Donors

…. the president’s Hollywood supporters were deeply shaken by his lackluster performance in this week’s debate with Republican nominee Romney.
…. “Everyone is in shock,” said one long-time Democratic activist. “No one can understand what happened.”

~~ via Doug Ross : WHEREIN I DRINK THE SWEET, SWEET TEARS OF CHER: After debate debacle, Obama races back to LA to “reassure Hollywood donors”

Oh, and as for you Hollywood-types: we’re not going to forget your anti-American efforts. You live in the lap of luxury, enjoying the fruits of the most magnificent society ever created, while supporting those whose mission is to destroy it.

So when we boot Obama out of office in November, we’ll not only be sending you kooks a message. We’ll be doing it for the children.

» Sesame Nation

Apparently, Frank Sinatra served as Mitt Romney’s debate coach. As he put it about halfway through “That’s Life”:

“I’d jump right on a big bird and then I’d fly . . . ”

That’s what Mitt did in Denver. Ten minutes in, he jumped right on Big Bird, and then he took off — and never looked back, while the other fellow, whose name escapes me, never got out of the gate. It takes a certain panache to clobber not just your opponent but also the moderator. Yet that’s what the killer Mormon did when he declared that he wasn’t going to borrow money from China to pay for Jim Lehrer and Big Bird on PBS. It was a terrific alpha-male moment, not just in that it rattled Lehrer, who seemed too preoccupied contemplating a future reading the hog prices on the WZZZ Farm Report to regain his grip on the usual absurd format, but in the sense that it indicated a man entirely at ease with himself — in contrast to wossname, the listless sourpuss staring at his shoes.

» Taliban threatens Code Pink group traveling to Pakistan.

Code Pink is sending a thirty plus group to Pakistan to join a protest at the use of drones in a areas suspected of hiding Taliban groups …. the Taliban is threatening to bomb the protest.

The comments speak my mind:

* Quite possibly the first time I am cheering for the Taliban. Wow, never thought that would happen…

* Pure ignorant foolishness meets pure ignorant evil. There is a strange symmetry to it.

* Bomb CodePink? I fail to see a downside…

» Gas prices set a record in California

Gasoline prices skyrocketed after the Exxon Mobil refinery in Torrance was knocked offline Monday by a power outage. Other lingering refinery and pipeline problems also contributed to the soaring costs at the pump.

» Venezuela election result set to upset global oil politics

If Chávez wins – as most polls suggest – he has promised to ramp up production and reduce his country’s dependence on the US market by doubling crude exports to Asia. To further this goal, Venezuela plans to build a pipeline through Colombia to the Pacific which would reduce costs and transport times to China and other Asian markets.

I just read a comment on a site that make me chuckle and cry at the same time –
But if we had a tax of 90% on 2.5 million then the people that make that much money will stop making more money and leave some for others to make or invest in hiring more people which is good for every one.

I did not chuckle.

» Congress Pushes for Answers in Libya Terrorist Attacks

United Nations Ambassador Susan Rice, in a letter released Friday, is insisting she did not deliberately mislead Congress about the terrorist attacks in Libya that left four Americans dead.

Several senators weren’t buying it ….. “The Obama administration failed to sufficiently protect our consulate and diplomats in Benghazi in the face of obvious and growing threats in eastern Libya in the months leading up to the September 11, 2012, terrorist attack. … Either the Obama administration is misleading Congress and the American people, or it is blaming the entire failure on the intelligence community.”
The senators added that the Administration’s handling of events around the embassy attack “indicates a breathtaking level of incompetence.”
